    RULES OF CONDUCT

Hello, you're about to read the rules of Naruto Forums. Please abide by them to keep the NF experience fun for yourself and others.

All content on the forum is subject to the enforcement of the rules by the Naruto Forums staff. Failure to follow the Rules of Conduct and section specific addendums may lead staff members to edit or delete your posts, to ban your access to (parts of) the forum and/or to withhold forum privileges (ranging from contests, Bathhouse access and rep/rating privileges to BB Code and prizes).

The Rules of Conduct are subject to the application and interpretation of the staff members. Please take into consideration that moderation differs from section to section! You are responsible for reading the rules and relevant stickies and/or notices pertaining to forum-wide and section guidelines. Claiming ignorance does not justify violation of the rules.

If you are unsure if something is against the rules, please consult a X. Don't hesitate to use the report feature if you feel that someone is in violation of the rules.

    1. BE NICE

Respect one another, be mindful. Try to be constructive in your criticism. Don't bully or harass members. Don't make snide, dismissive or otherwise disruptive remarks. Don't purposefully spoil content for others. Don't plagerise or falsely claim credit for someone else's work. Additionally take note of the following rules:

1.1. Baiting and Trolling: Try not to target forum individuals or segments of the community as a whole. Do not purposefully act in such a way as to provoke an emotional and/or inflammatory response from others.

1.2. Flaming: We encourage civil disagreement. Refrain from insulting or generally hostile behaviour. Just because somebody sees things differently, doesn't mean you should take offence or engage in personal attacks.

1.3. Discrimination: Inappropriate remarks pertaining to culture (xenophobia), gender (sexism), race (racism), religious beliefs, disablity and sexual orientation are strictly forbidden.

    2. SECTION SPECIFIC GUIDELINES

Please look at the sticky threads and notices in each of the forum sections for section specific rules. Violation of a section's rules may result in a section ban, or a forum ban if the offence is serious enough.

    3. GENERAL POSTING RULES

3.1. Be Clear: Please be certain your topics and posts are succinct and to the point. Unclear or otherwise misleading thread titles such as "Oh my God!" or "Lookit what I found!" can create confusion and may lead to a moderator renaming your thread title to better reflect its contents. The amount of leeway given may vary from section to section. For further information consult your local section moderator or guidelines.

3.2. Off-Topic: Try and keep the discussion on-topic. Moderators may move off-topic posts to a new or appropriate thread, or delete them altogether. If the topic means nothing to you, then stay out. The amount of leeway given may vary from section to section. For further information consult your local section moderator or guidelines.

3.3. Spam: Do not repeatedly double-post – use the multi-quote and edit functions instead. Do not repeatedly post tripe such as unrelated reaction images, nonsensical strings of words and/or generally less than contributory rhetoric. Refrain from posting in a thread that has died out with the sole intent of keeping it active ("necro"). The amount of leeway given may vary from section to section. For further information consult your local section moderator or guidelines.

3.4. Personal Affairs: Personal affairs are not to be fought out via the forums. If you have some kind of problem with someone, use an IM program like Skype or Discord, the X feature or profile posts. The forum and its members have no part in your personal issues, so don't make them be your audience.

3.5. Spoiler Policy: Keep spoilers in check. We have forums relating to all kinds of fictional media and some people may not be at the point where you are, or vice versa. Be especially mindful in sections with low(er) tolerance toward spoilers (e.g. a section that is dedicated to an anime adaptation of a manga). Be sure to check out section specific guidelines. When in doubt, ask a (section) moderator.

    4. INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT (NSFW)

Do not post or link to material considered unsuitable for a family or office environment (NSFW). This includes but isn't limited to: pornography, depictions of gore, etc. Likewise, do not show seizure inducing or longcat images. When in doubt, X. Better safe than sorry.

4.1. Pornographic Material: No pornographic material is allowed outside of X. This includes the posting of images depicting genitalia, bare breasts or depicting sexual acts (real or simulated). Linking to websites with such content or writing graphic pornographic content is also not allowed. Posting such material is grounds for a global forum ban and a restriction of BB Code privileges.

4.2. Content of Your Set: Directly showing any type of NSFW content is prohibited in avatars and signatures. Anything sexually explicit but not pornographic must be placed under spoiler tags. Images in your set will be removed or spoiler tagged at the discretion of the staff if deemed inappropriate.

    5. REPUTATION AND RATING SYSTEM ABUSE

Acceptable use for positive rep or rating is to reward a member for their contribution or set. Acceptable use for negative rep or rating is to disapprove of a member's contribution or set. Any other motive for repping or rating (positively or negatively) is rep/rating abuse and subject to sanctions. Rep or rating abuse includes but is not limited to:

5.1. Harassment through Reputation Comments: Leaving almost nothing but unwarranted negative reputation comments for people in general or repeatedly for the same member may be judged as harassment which is not allowed. Flaming in reputation comments is subject to sanction.

5.2. Spamming Negative Ratings and Gang-negging: Don't go through a person's posting history with the intent to negatively rate their posts. Likewise organising a group of people to go and neg, dislike (etc.) one or more people in the same fashion is a no-no as well.

5.3. Rep- and Likewhoring: This refers to both getting involved in a circle of friends to positively rep or rate each other's posts as much as possible, and continuously asking publicly for rep or ratings. Basically, if we see that you are handing out or receiving rep or ratings for no other reason than to boost your own or other people's rep points or 'ratings received' respectively, the staff will intervene as we see fit.

    6. ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES

Naruto Forums does not host illegal content nor does it serve as a repository of where to locate illegal material. Links to downloads for copyrighted games, movies, or other materials will be removed as they are found or reported. This may result in a ban on your account.

This is not construed to be a ban on X links to images for the purpose of discussion nor links to materials not under copyright. If you're not sure X first.

    7. UNDERMINING THE INTEGRITY OF THE SITE

7.1. Duplicate Accounts: Most of the time dupe accounts are used for ban evasion, rep abuse, cheating in forum polls or contests, or some other form of questionable activity such as harassment or flaming via proxy. Therefore, our policy is to permanently ban ("perm") all dupes. Duping might also lead to a ban on your main account, especially when done repeatedly or with malicious or otherwise questionable intent.

7.2. Raids: Do not use these boards to organise groups with the intent of sabotaging other forums or our own. Likewise, do not import drama from other boards onto this one.

7.3. Hacking: Do not attempt to break your way into other accounts or parts of the forum that would otherwise be inaccessible to you.

7.4. Bathhouse Access: Know that X is 18+ only and that you mustn't lie about your age. If you want access to this section, contact a X.

    8. ADVERTISEMENTS

You can use your profile page, signature and X for promotion of projects, webpages, etc. Outside of these, advertisements are not tolerated. Do not annoy members via Conversations, profile posts or forum posts (outside of the Konoha Ad Board) in order to facilitate advertisement.

"Easy money" topics like pyramid games, banner click systems, chain letters etc. etc. are not tolerated in this forum, topics of such nature will be removed. If you see advertisements or adbots about, please report it or X.

    9. SIGNATURE SIZES

For all members, your total signature space allowed is 700 (Width) x 300 (Height). This includes space taken up by closed spoiler tags, text and images.
    Spoiler:
    X

The absolute maximum file size limit is 3MB (3072KB). This is also for the entire signature, not just individual files. Stuff within spoiler tags does not count towards the signature space limits, but do count towards the file size limit. These limits are not targets, they are the absolute maximum you're allowed. Stepping even slightly over is against the rules.

Animated scenes are pretty but not everyone wants to wait for 20 MB worth of them to open a page. Being considerate about this will help with loading times and make the forum much smoother to browse. If you have too many signatures we will tell you to remove it or a staff member will have to remove it personally. Repeated signature violations will lead to a signature ban.

So, with that – welcome to Naruto Forums, post away!
