Introduction Hello, and welcome to the Guide thread. The Fairy Tail Tournament is a competition in which contestants and tournament participants choose and select characters from a tier list (refer to section II, part b) and face off with other participants. You play as the strategist of a team of Fairy Tail characters, trying to lead them to victory against your opponent's team. II. Thread Types a. Practice Matches Practice matches are a way to have matches when tournaments aren't on (or when you've been eliminated from one): these are meant to provide a more relaxed form of competition from standard tournament matches. To get a match, simply hop onto the discussion thread, make a team and request a match. b. Tournament Matches Tournament matches are matches that are part of a certain tournament (as the name might have been implied). Unlike practice matches, these are highly competitive and generate the most activity. c. Discussion Thread These threads are here to discuss potential tournaments/future tournaments, raise concerns, request matches and (for the moment) character discussions and polls. Any queries should be directed here. III. References a. Tournament Rules Voting Rules Make your vote clear; either bold it or format it in some way for it to stand out. For example: vote: User. Show evidence that you've read both strategies to justify your vote. While reading rebuttals are not compulsory, it is recommended that you do so. If no reasoning or proper justification is given in the votes, the vote is voided. Duplicate account votes are voided. Contestant Rules 1. You are only given 48 hours to post your strategy upon the time your match is posted. 2. You can defend your strategy, criticize the opponent's strategy and rebuttal votes for the opponents as much as you want as long as you're within the time limit. If you wish to win your match, this is strongly recommended. 3. No bribery of votes. This will cause you the match-up and will be kicked out of the tourney right away. 4. You can debate against voters but they are not obliged to defend their vote, though you can convince them via rebut. 5. Please, if do not open spoiler tags if you haven't posted your strategy yet. This may give you unusual advantages w/c would be unfair to the others. 6. Do not read your opponent's strategy before you post yours. This is against the rules and is punishable by instant disqualification. PS: If you feel like your opponent won't make it in time and you fear that others may read your strategy and prepare for it, you can send them to organizers, and they will be the one to post it if ever your opponent makes it. Match Rules: [sp= In Character Rule] Your team is obliged to obey you. They will not tolerate any "Manga induced stupidity" within the match (EG: Juvia not attacking Gray due to obsession; Ichiya being stupid when Erza is around; Natsu's recklessness). As long as their not violating the rules, they will follow your strat at will. [/sp] [sp= Knowledge] This is a big issue. Each character has all first hand knowledge they have in the manga. They also have perfect knowledge of their own team’s characters which is assumed to be shared before the match. They may have second hand knowledge, that is, in-character knowledge they’re imagined to have despite not showing in the manga) but it’s up to each voter to decide that. Their knowledge of each other does not extend to emotional ties that might be detrimental to their ability to fight. Earlier iterations of the same character do not share knowledge with their later forms. Characters have knowledge up to the last chapter before the registration of the Tournament your match is in. Anything they learn in a future chapter doesn’t count in the Tournament you’re participating in.[/sp] [sp=Metagaming] You may not write your strategy in such a way as to use your own personal knowledge of your enemy team, where your own team lacks such knowledge, to your advantage. This means that you cannot prepare contingencies to attacks your team doesn’t know about or tailor your strategy to defeat about around their defenses when your team isn’t aware of them. If your strategy is metagaming it may be judged invalid, leaving your team without a strategy.[/sp] [sp= Preparation] Your team has endless time to prepare. They can exchange knowledge, trade items whatsoever. But they cannot prepare any magic during this time (EG; Azuma prepping to suck magic powers from tenrou if ever it is the location of the battle; Freed setting up runes)[/sp] [sp= Flight] Characters who can fly can't stray more than 75 meters above the location. [/sp] [sp= Sudden Death/Overtime] Match Extensions Each typical tournament match runs for 72 Hours (Three days). When there are twenty-four hours remaining, a warning may be posted, but is not required. Since it is optional, the lack of a warning does not warrant an extension of the match. If a match ends in a draw, then a 24 hour extension will be added, and the match will go into overtime. Sudden Death If after 24 hours, the match is still tied will be extended then it will go into sudden death. The first vote received will be the deciding factor, and the recipient of this vote will win the match.[/sp] Discussion Rules: General Rules: Every discussion and/or issue will require at least one poll to conclude the issue. Anybody can open the poll, but should follow the poll procedures. The poll will be kept open for 24 hours after the initial 24 hour open discussion. b. Team Making Rules From the X, you can select characters and build a team of a total value of up to 80 points, with a minimum of 70 points. Make sure you refer to the character profiles carefully to check for any banned moves!
