I was just thinking, couldn't you just trap the user in a genjutsu that paralyzes them or distracts them while you attack. Like Sexy Jutsu or the Genjutsu Orochimaru used on Anko. Or bringer of darkness. Theres so many ways to use genjutsu to stop FTG

Depends on how the genjutsu is employed. Frog Song, Tayaya's genjutsu, and Mizukage's clam mirage have large area of effect so they don't care where to you teleport. You'll be affected so long as you're still on the battlefield.

Something that requires more precision and accuracy like Sharingan genjutsu on the other hand would be harder to land than usual since the users can avoid line of sight more readily by teleporting.

X so if you dont maintain a certain distance you will have your head off before you can do anything.

Also a precision genjutsu like sharingan related genjutsu would be hard or rather impossible to use against those who can constantly get out of your LOS and you are forced to defend.

    I don't think so.

Minato has ever been affected by Genjutsu, Obito didn't even make a try at him when they fought and that's why Hiraishin's speed is too great to be affected by Genjutsu. Minato can even teleport outside of the battlefield and since he's smart that's something he'd do to not get affected by Genjutsu. Even though Sharingan predicts the enemy's moves it does take 1-2 seconds for the user to cast the Genjutsu and Hiraishin's still too fast to let the user get trapped in a Genjutsu.

I don't think Hiraishin can handle with Rinnegan Genjutsu though.

What about non sharingan techniques that dont require them to look into the users eyes. Like the first user mentioned with Tayuyas music or Bringer Of Darkness.

I know but the thing about Genjutsu is he wont be expecting it. It will be too late once he looks into his eyes. And Minto cant attack like Might Guy without looking at his target

the true weakness of Hirashin is a Sharingan user with incredible kunai skills, like Itachi

he can easily destroy destroy the seals/deflect Minato's kunais

so it's only common sense that Hirashin is practiacally a non-factor against Itachi

Itachi wouldn't even stand a chance. :lmao
Minato's Kunais throwing speed is several tiers above him. For example, when he covered a huge area around the Juubi without
anyone even noticing. Even the Hokages, which includes Tobirama, another FTG user was not fast enough. So, how is itachi going
    to do so? :catsmug

    ------------

OT: Anything can be used to defeat anyone. The problem is how he is going to do so?
Why have seen 2 FTG users against 2 MS users, and yet neither of the MC stood a chance.

How does it make a different tho? :hmm

He simply can't keep up because the enormous different in speed. Just like how it was between Sasuke and Lee in part 1 for example. :doge

But then of course, everything will be determined by the plot regardless. :catsmug

Do you have any empirical data for that? :catcane

nothing ever suggested that Minato's throwing speed is so incredible fast

Otherwise, why would he even bother to use Hirashin if he can just blitz anyone by throwing a Kunai? :ufdup

    Minato
1- Outspeed all the other Hokages
2- He used the S/T barrier to teleport the TBB
3- he covered the area around the Juubi with his Kunais
4- he had a small talk with his kid

The Kages, including a speedster like Tobirama only arrive after all of that.
And no one in the entire SA even noticed him.

itachi has nothing to suggest he is anywhere near this fast, heck, even Kisame was keeping up just fine with him...

"Is something that harms the opponent and makes him unable to do anything a weakness to Hiraishin users?"

    .... yes ?

No. genjutsu is strictly a plot-device.

hiraishin is merely a crutch for writing background fights for a background character(albeit a relevant one)

Minato fought against two the strongest MS/EMS/Rinnegan users during last war and gave no fucks towards genjutsu. I think Kishimoto hinted on Minato being too cool to be trapped in it.

Fortunately, a teleport isn't the same as actually wielding a kunai. One is transversing space, the other is attacking with a weapon. It's not all automatic!

Hardly "precision." Besides, the burden is on the Hiraishin user to not look at the Sharingan. You're talking as if the Sharingan is a targetted attack one can dodge or avoid by moving.

Needs to be something like the toad song which has a large reach and paralyses the victim's mind. If Tobirama/Minato's mind a paralysed, they can't use Hiraishin by will.

Well, sound based genjutsu cannot be dodged. Same with the Mizukage's clam mirage.

Dojutsu based genjutsu is different and by avoiding eye contact experienced jounin level opponents and above can deal with it too.

Of course it depends on the power of the genjustu user too. Sasuke with his Rinnegan can likely genjutsu Minato with a mere glance. Kaguya can handle him even more easily with MT.
As for Madara and Obito those two almost always use genjutsu only to control bijuus. They do not focus on using genjutsu during battle nowhere near as much as Itachi who uses genjutsu in every single fight.

Regarding the bold, what's more: they consciously chose not to use Genjutsu when fighting teleporters. Perhaps using visual Genjutsu requires focus and you won't get that with someone teleporting around hence Hagoromo was impressed Sasuke could cast powerful illusions with a single glance.

I would think A skilled fast Hyuuga with the Byakugan would be the best against Hirashni. You can spot the seals. Chakra Rotations and air palms to negate Step 2 Hirashin

Yeah, except for the one Kunai he left back at the house for instant teleportation to Baby Naruto......Which he used on Tobi.

Or the one Kushina keeps in her purse for emergencies.....

OR - the one seal he has on top of his personal sculpture on the Hokage Monument....

Again, if you don't restrict Minato to an extreme finite amount of marked Kunai (or even the seals themselves) no one is laying a hand on him, Itachi included.

2 factors give characters a fighting chance:

1). He'd have to have absolutely zero knowledge of the character in question's ability as a ninja.

2). Aforementioned Character must have access to Paralyzing Genjutsu (Frog Song, Tayuya's Demonic Flute). Even the latter isn't necessarily a sure bet as Minato could in theory, bite his lip to release himself much like Kurenai did against Itachi. Simple Illusoury Genjutsu which still allows the victim free movement will do no good; Minato will teleport himself from harm's way the moment he senses things are amiss with his surroundings.

    Conclusion:
If you can't paralyze him from using his seals/chakra, it's likely no one is taking down an unrestricted Hairaishin. There are just too many avenues (literally) that it can take to elude danger.
