it would genuinely cut down on the animosity against staff

it'll cut down on the trend of staff members becoming inactive quickly since they won't feel like they're overbearing or shoving their opinions down the throats of the members

it would allow staff to feel more comfortable being themselves because they'll be just like members in all of the most important regards except in regards to their staff responsibilities

it would still be the responsibility of the members to notice and pay attention to warnings from staff members

VMs and PMs from people on your ignore list are still visible in that your still notified when they happen, so there's really no downside to it at all

This is a great idea. It won't happen but it's a great idea.

    Unlikely.

    Unlikely.

If we allow members to ignore us then they at the very least have a solid case for not being aware of any warnings. Let's say that a moderator gives a warning in a thread, a person who has that moderator on his/her ignore list is unlikely to be aware that it is a warning and thus try to view that post. We can't tell a member to open every post of a moderator that is on said person's ignore list just in case said moderator is giving a warning. Asking that would pretty much defeat the purpose of the ignore list. The same goes for PMs/VMs.

tl;dr: We aren't going to allow members to ignore the staff.
