I wouldn't say "love" persay, but I do like their 7-day return thing.

    Pros:

    No shipping
    7-day return policy
    Proximity (it's close)
    Female clerks (sometimes)
    Decent pre-orders

    Cons:

    Taxes
    Selection
    Prices (on used things, mostly)
    Trade-in values
    Not enough hot female clerks

I hate their crappy trade-in values. I hate how they want to sell you a strategy book. I hate you.

I'll never forget that day some lady came in to trade a DS. The store offered her X amount of money for it (I think it was $25 or something, I can't recall but you'd probably know better than I). Then right after this lady left another one came in asking how much a used DS is.

    $130.00 or somewhere around there.

To be honest, what I hate is how you end up getting shit when you trade-in your games, but that's all.

I like how when I get used games they always work, unlike EB Games.

I hate how you will be put on a, "no return list".

Well, you haft to factor in exactly how many copies of said game we'll have in used company wise; how much the system is sold used, weather there getting cash or credit, and other small factors. We can't have someone trade in a brand new game and get 50 bucks, and we sell it for 54. We only make a couple dollars in profit. Theres alot behind it, but then again it can be annoying. xD

@Neo: The no returns list is for people who try to scam the business. I've heard stories of it, and it can be quite brutal :argh

ah, she may have traded in a lite, those are about 20-25 depending on cash or credit, and a hundred used; but the priced dropped, so now there 90 used I think

I had one guy ramble on for 10 minutes about it.

They had this one girl there (sexy as hell) who knew me and never asked after the first time. She was the best clerk ever. Then she disappeared before I could get her number.

Later, as I was entering stalker phase, I found she had a boyfriend. I was so pissed. Good riddance. :ippy

For me, the cons are definitely the trade-in values, which are s--t. I also kinda don't like that they center half of their business model around trade-ins. Other stores do trade-ins, but Gamestop pretty much actively encourages selling your old stuff to them and are huuuge because of it. Hell, even that wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the aforementioned s--t values paired with how they price the trade-ins when they put 'em back on the shelves. It strikes me as kinda scummy.

Their pros? They're everywhere. I live near a place in Lansing where there are literally 3 Gamestops within walking distance of each other. They've admittedly got some good exclusive pre-order deals. Also, if I happen to be shopping at the mall and got some extra bucks, it's the perfect place to go if I wanna purchase some ancient games that I liked but never purchased as a kid, and for dirt cheap. In fact, until recently, they were the only place to go for that around where I live.

i hated when i bought demon souls and the clerk says: oh youre getting that! oh my well its pretty easy though. i beat it in 5 hours.
then the clerk says this: well when you play it make sure to come on xbox live so i can kill you in deathmatch.

all i have to say is: WTF

    Cons

I hate that I didn't listen to my dad as a kid. Whenever I went to trade in stuff he would facepalm, in fact sometimes he'd buy it off of me and give it to kids instead for free rather than letting gamestop scam the fuck out of me.

Then again he also has my pokemon cards that he bought from me when I didnt want them anymore. He always brags about how much there value is now :lmao

As a 20 year old... I will say I hate gamestop because they scammed idiots like me with there trade in values, but in a fucked up buisness plan kind of a way I respect it. I would do the same. Although, I wish I still had my Budokai 3 and KH games. :cry

    Pros

I used to abuse the shit out of the returns back when it used to be 15 days. Beat the games, return and say it sucked and got another game. :lmao

    Ah, the MEMORIES!

Oh and they are everywhere and the people who work there are kind of cool. Though I wish they would have told me if I bought ME2 New instead of PreOwned I could have had Ceberus Network. They probably laughed when I left.

Every gamestop has a...unique group of workers to say the least. one of my friends put it perfectly: If your a friend, your Gamestop material. and when he says that, he means like your a cool person, easy to befriend, etc etc

The only real pros I can think of are:

    Proximity
Catching old games before they've been priced properly
Getting deals on improperly marked games
    Big sales on outdated systems

I loot gamestops all the time for resale; you'd be surprised how much you can make with it, if you know what you are looking for and do it often.

@Span: Thats because the company itself probably has tons of gamestops that have shittons of that game, and they don't give extra for that stuff. And like I tell people all the time, if you know what your doing and how to manipulate our sales/stuff we give out, you'll be a happy man.

Clerks are fun to talk to about games in general, and are pretty chill for the most part. They don't bug me about buying strategy guides, and they are pretty helpful for the most part.

Don't really have a problem with Gamestop to be honest.

    Why I like Gamestop?

    - 7 day return policy on used games.
    - Um...employees are nice and cool to chill with (at my local one).
    - I live next door to one so it makes getting day one games easy.
    - 7 day return policy on used games.

    Why I dislike Gamestop?

    - Poor selection of games.
    - Want to black list motherfuckers (although the employees gave me a heads up before it went through, so I'm not on it). :mad
    - Poor trade in value on games.

I promised myself I would never trade a game in anymore but...I recently traded in BbS (I have multiple copies) to pay for my PS3 like a month ago and MH Freedom Unite to pay for my Catherine like a week or so ago. I'm ashamed of myself...:cry

Oh, no I kept going to the same one. I buy a used game...play it for a few days, if I didn't like it I'd take it back for another used game. Needless to say, I'm glad I did that, I avoided having alot of shitty games in my collection.

Game Stop offered me $5 for my Nintendo 64 when it was still selling for $150 in stores. :smh

At least they come to you and ask you what you want. Not going to say they have the best of selections, but at least they make an initiative to talk to me, even if I know some secondary advertising is going to happen.
