So that's what GAR means...BOWSS still leaves me confused though.
I've never seen anyone other than mystic use BOWSS....
Oh wow some of these I wasn't aware of. Very informative and thanks Haterade.
Hate man, why was this unstickied?
The X allows us to cut down on the stickies to the bare minimum.
Is AoE on there?
I don't believe it is.
I'll add it.
Posting because words are awesome.
The Flashlight Effect
Describes a situation where a speedblitzing character is completely ineffective against the character being speedblitzed.
For example, Quicksilver vs Juggernaut
Plot induced feats
Feats that were added for plot sake and suddenly, when someone could use them, they appearently used them
Black Panther's Armbar
I have yet to see that besides just in this post.
He hasn't been in the situation to need to use that type of strength again yet.
That wasn't an armbar by any means, and it was actually classified under jobber aura.
I mean things like, Kakashi can run at the speed of lightning on one feat, but he can't reach Naruto and sasuke that had at the time minor head start
Zuko's shove isn't plot induced
It was made just to transmit the idea of anger
I mean, were was all that juice when he was fighting Jet edgeless swords?
Pulling a Xellos-
Using prep time to creat an extremly erotic attack that completly renders the enemy bonkers
Dont Give Thanos Prep Ever!. It should be made into a term or rule
I say we move "spirit" from the fourth element to the third, since most spirits and spirit based existances are variations of astral projections, making them invunerable to "soulswords" but classifiable in some way.
That or we create a fifth element where all spirit's or ghosts will refer to.
Give me credit for creating babyshake
Can somebody give me a link to the article about Suspension of Disbelief method?
which approach do you recommend
A new word that is very suitable for OBD.
Battledomology is the art of debating VS matches and comparisons between fictional characters and fictional universes.
While its a fact of life that everyone has their favorites in fiction(e.g. Characters,Universes, Special Moves, Francies, Etc.) and will support them, Battledomology is a Science where practitioners DO NOT LET preferences get in the way of debating the characters. Proper Battledomology is done by analyzing demonstrated material and creating reasonable conclusions based on it, not empty speculations. Making a biased conclusion based on your favoritism on certain fictional characters, universes, etc against in the face of the evidence is NOT PROPER BATTLEDOMOLOGY and is actually wanking.
Battledomology can involve more than just merely VS battles between fictional characters, universes, and franchises -it can comparisons of stuff outside of battle such as who is the more intelligent character, who has better feats not related to battle, which universe has more advanced technology, which universe has more effective magic, etc.
The best best site on the net for Battledomology is the Outskirts Battle Dome, where wanking is not tolerated and Battledomological threads are almost always done with logic and reasoning.
A person who practice and study the Science of Battledomology is called a Battledomologist.
In fact, I'm the guy who posted that word in urban Dictionary! what do you think? Also, FYI, Iam a member of Nevermind's Deadliest Fictional Warrior, not some random guy making useless words up.
I use CounterSwarmer as my name in most sites FYI and will be changing my username in this site soon.
How about Thread Wiper I made up.
Thread Wiper: The debate counterpart of Destructive Capability of Life Wipers. In the instance when a majority of consensus favors a side. A thread wiper asserts a logic that refutes all. Thus force the majority consensus to withdraw and force to come up a new counterpoint. Results may vary as stalemate, inconclusive, changing opinion, and potential closing threads.
Other Notable OBDer has done it in the pass. You know who you are.
Scorched Earth: When the splash damage of one of the characters causes enough of a colateral cataclysm, that even though does not suffice to defeat the character itself, it is enough to render the envyroment uninhabitable and thus achieving survivalist victory
Example: The Hulk busts the planet the battle is taking planet on, thus killing goku who cannot inhabit even in short term on space, while the Hulk survives
What does Composite mean? In OBD terms, of course.
It usually means ALL versions of the character. But often the OP should clarify what they mean when they say composite.
- Composite Movie Godzilla, this means that Godzilla gets all feats that happen in the movie. However you can also say Composite Godzilla all media, which would then mean all Godzillas from the movies, television series, and comics.
- Composite Charizard, this means a Charizard with anime, game, and manga feats.
- Composite Animated Superman, all feats from the animated DC television series and movies
Again it is very important that the OP specify what kind of composition, and if you are ever confused just ask which versions are to be included.
The literacy method answers a different question to the one we usually ask in the OBD. The literacy method asks "who would win in a crossover" whilst the OBD asks "who would win in a realistic battle". For example, using the literacy method, naruto vs luffy vs ichigo would end in a draw, because they are all the main character in their respective mangas and the authors woud like to respect all of the relevent fanbases, goku vs darkseid would end with goku winning because he's the "good" character etc. The OBD's default assumptions means approaches like this are not usually used, although it is possible to set up this kind of debate in the OP.
Of course, the OBD is different from stardestroyer's approach too, because it usually assumes that fictions are set in another universe which may confirm to other (trope-like) laws of physics whilst stardestroyer usually assumes everything happens in our universe and can be explained as such. It's not that there is a "correct" answer because each approach is answering a slightly different question.
Of course composite superman is a little confusing in itself.
I just put Taicho's old Metadome Welcome thread here.
Most of the threads are outdated or just no longer relevant.
But it'd be still nice to not miss it.
It's really helpful
composite means using feats from all continuities right?
Look four posts above you
Ok here's something.
How much faster do you have to be than the other person to "blitz" them.
assuming the standard of twenty paces of distance between the combatants, it's supposed to be ten times the speed of the other dude, from what I remember
starting at up close fisticuffs distance, just being twice as fast is an overwhelming advantage
Suggsverse= a joke of a verse
Lionel= author of said verse and origin of Getbacker's deception
Dunno about the other 2 but those sound like forums to me
Originally good, it followed OBD standards . Now, not so much . But still, I reckon it's not fucked up like spacebattles, comicvine(Comic vine is fucked up when it comes to anime/manga matches of any kind), KillerMovies, etc .
Dunno . Must be a forum .
The russian forum is indeed quite good (at least they had pretty good when they cry pages)
Dont see The point,tho
>Lol suggs being relevant,tho
