Black Clover's a very weird series It's a culmination of all sorts generic troprd but I haven't quite read a Shounen manga like it. it has this completely random sort of upping the stakes and event inflation where you'll have an arc culminating in the group fighting some random guy and then next chapter a whole bunch of new overpower bad guys turn up and then the overpowered friendlies turn up. You'll have one random adventure arc and then all out war next arc all of this without warning or foreshadowing, it just sort of happens. The good part is it doesn't have the sort of boring filler that normally occurs in the build of these events, conversely these events barely make sense and almost seem random, there's no emotional weight or tension to these events they just happen. It's entertaining in it's own way but I find it difficult to get attached to the characters and events or care about the plot when there's almost nothing there to sink into. I just tetter on the dredge on dropping it or not with the next random upping of the stakes keeping me along.
