No one claims VIZ is infallible. One small mistake on putting a plural when all the online translations made the same one.
Using a more Americanised name for a jutsu is not a mistake.
Also we do not know why the word revenge is used. Lets wait until we hear the whole story. We don't know if Itachi felt some resentment for the clan or not and felt satisfaction in Sasuke being Konoha's hero.
Well I came across people who simply refused to believe VIZ made any mistakes. Heck, even when VIZ ignored a sentence he would go as far that EVERY other translator was wrong and somehow all made up and added the exact same sentence. Baffling, I know.
Nah, it just shows that they take liberties quite far.
Itachi would achieve revenge against his clan by having Sasuke kill him? Well I wonder how that will be explained. But let's be honest, that most likely is a mistake.

Naruto is the main character. His ambition is to get recognition by surpassing the previous Hokage, most notably his hero, Minato. Sasuke is the rival. His ambition is to restore the clan and kill Itachi.
Naruto and Sasuke's bad childhoods are a result of their main benchmarks (Minato and Itachi respectively) acting to oppose Tobi and save the world from falling into war.
Sasuke gets corrupted by Orochimaru and Naruto gets taught by Jiraiya, both legendary shinobi who had a rivalry similar to that of Naruto and Sasuke's. Under the influence of these Sannin the two get torn apart.
Sasuke inherits Orochimaru's Hebi powers and kills Itachi, fulfulling part of his goals, and Naruto inherits Jiriaya's Sage powers and becomes the hero of the village by saving it; he is finally recognised.
After these events Sasuke decides to work with Tobi and Naruto is entrusted to save the world by stopping Tobi. Naruto and Sasuke meet on opposing sides and arrange a future confrontation. Naruto finally accepts the power Minato left for him and Sasuke finally accepts the power Itachi left him.
The war happens. Both Naruto and Sasuke perfect their new powers and are ready for their fateful fight.

Yes the guy in question is baffling. However, I think people like that are few and far between.
I don't think it is that Itachi would achieve revenge aganst his clan by Sasuke killing him, but by making Sasuke the hero of Konoha. I once made a thread about how the Uchiha clan were probably pinning all their hopes of the rebellion Sasuke once he matured. So Itachi wanted to turn the champion of the Uchiha's into Konoha's champion.

Viz is prone to mistakes. However, if some character hypes aren't to our fancy. We can't simply try to discredit Viz based on that; so Viz doesn't have the same sentiments about someone's hype?
Of course, reading Viz, or any translation, to just enjoy a manga is a good thing. But of course, for in-depth theories and arguments: better to look at a range of translations.
However, from my experience, particularly for some salient parts of Pari II which are heavily debated: Viz coincides with the 'good' fan translations.
That should say something. Hence the existence of the thread.

If you want to discuss the implication of the translation, please start another thread and I will personally promise to answer your questions there as a Jiraiya fan. Many of us use this thread to get clarification on the story, please let's not litter it with Itachi vs. Jiraiya argument, you know they never stop

No its not translated in the way you think, though I have heard this was a mistake. Reading the VIZ translation they were not much above the average fan translations until about about near the end of part 1 when Mari Morimoto took over.

I second this.
It would be interesting if Nagato was deemed to be the Third Sage of Six Paths. Simply because Tobi is considered to be one for having Uchiha and Senju blood/abilities. Would this imply Nagato has/had (latent?) Uchiha and Senju powers?
