Nya, well, I love ShinoTen because I'm a lover of crack, and he seems like the type who'd go good with her. I think she'd love having such a cute loving guy around. He seems like the tough, quiet type, but he's really passionate when he loves something. [such as his insects]
And, of course, she'd have an easy time making him talk more. She seems like the outgoing, 'Don't give me the cold shoulder!' type

I consider ShinoTen a crack pairing. But, in my opinion, the funny thing about crack pairings is that there are varying levels of plausibility. Some would have a higher chance to occur than others, and in the unlikely chance that one were to happen, even fewer would likely work. For instance…something like…Nagato/Anko—not only would it NEVER happen, but it would NEVER work. But on the flip side, there are many pairings that I classify as crack merely because they are unlikely to occur--but if they ever did, the personalities of the characters could mesh well enough to hold a healthy, lasting relationship. A few examples: Iruka/Anko, Lee/Hina, Chouji/Ino, and of course, Shino/Tenten.
Those are the type of ‘crack ships’ that I tend to gravitate towards—the ones that won’t happen, but could work. But why Shino and Tenten specifically? I think that their personalities make them very compatible for each other.
Shino is beyond intelligent and is, in comparison to most of the Konoha 11, mature for his age. Because of this, he cannot relate to his peers in the same way, and comes off as a bit of a loner. Contrary to his reputation, I don’t believe he prefers to be alone…he is just incapable of overcoming himself to act on their level.
Tenten is rough-and-tumble, opinionated, and more complex than she is given credit for. Because she isn’t turned off by the messier aspects of life, she tends to be classified as a tomboy, and as such is not as interested in relating to the other kunoichi in Konoha, hence why she is an often overlooked member of the Konoha 11.
The obvious reason why they might work in a relationship is that they could bond over being forgotten. While this is often enough to write a fanfiction on, I like to think there are many more complex reasons that they are compatible. Tenten is not squeamish, and while the whole ‘bug thing’ might bother girls like Ino, Tenten wouldn’t think twice. Being a brilliant tactician, Shino appreciates practicality, which is something that Tenten has in spades. Shino is known to harbor a bit of an aggressive/dominant streak, and he would need challenge in a relationship to keep his interest. Girls like Hinata and Ino would tire of it quite quickly, but Tenten wouldn’t stand for being a pushover. Even though she is often the forgotten kunoichi, Tenten is not bashful and would force Shino’s otherwise antisocial side out of its comfort zone.
Is it cliché to say they complete each other? Probably. But more than that, effective relationships complement each other, and I guess I think that Shino and Tenten have the potential to do both.

I like them as crack, because it's hawt. But I also think they work well together. Both Shino and Tenten seem to know what it's like to be forgotten or left behind, and both of them don't favor that and aren't afraid to admit it. For example, Shino was openly upset when Naruto forgot his name, and Tenten got angry when Neji and Lee wouldn't wait up for her.
Also, Tenten's chatty, bubbly attitude would be a perfect counter to Shino's quiet and reserved personality if they were related romantically. I can't see Kishi ever actually announcing them as cannon. But if we're going to pretend it would happen (I know we'd all have a fangasm), I can see them coming out as a couple in a sort of last minute panel where all the rest of the characters are competely and one-hundred-percent shocked. I guess it's just impossibly possible.

I like it because it fits so well. Shino and Tenten are characters who tend to fall into the background, and I really can't see them fitting all that well with any of the other characters. Tenten, possibly with Lee, but her personality, blunt and to the point, would work really well with Shino's more cryptic nature.
The two forgotten rookies are drawn closer together by what they share and what they don't, to watch the lies crumble around them like ashes. Shippuuden arc.
