No, that's not what I meant by that. A bullet soesn't travel in a straight line once fired. I travels in an arc. After the round leaves the chamber, there are several things that can effect it (weather, temperature, position of the sun, wind speed) from what you intend to hit: point of aim, and where the round actually lands: point of impact.
The AK-47(and 74) is the most reliable "unreliable weapon" ever. It can function under the weirdest conditions (sand, mud, fully submerged), but if you lock it down in a vice and try to hit the same spot on a target, the pattern will be about a 10 inch shot group (which is horrible shooting).
And to answer your most weapons would explode if a drop of water got in the chamber. We had a guy in my old unit who tried shooting (blanks on a training op) coming from wet (the ocean) to dry (the beach) and his upper receiver cracked.
*note upper reciever is the top part that houses the barrel and chamber

Interesting. Physically, I know that a bullet travels in a trajectory but I always thought that you could disregard factors like wind speed and weather when the distance is close enough. I figured the range of and AK-47 would still be close enough to conceive of the bullet as traveling in a straight line. I thought that with snipers the bullet travels so far that other factors then came into play. How does position of the sun effect bullet trajectory?

Yeah, I've heard stories saying how the AK-47 is the most resilient firearm ever. However, I didn't know about its weak accuracy. Is it because of the recoil or something?

Wow, I didn't know that at all. What causes it to explode? Wouldn't the water prevent the gunpowder from igniting?

Wind effects a round (from a rifle) any where past 100 meters and The position of the sun only effects how the shooter sees the target. Lack of compensation for this will cause you to completely miss and you will be ridiculed.

No, the recoil isn't bad at all. It's about the same as a pat on the back. I honestly don't know why it so inaccurate. The only reason there are so many being produced is because they are so cheap.

- The gunpowder is inside the brass casing of the round
- The firing pin (inside the weapon) striked the round and ignites the primer.
- The primer, in turn, burns the gunpowder.
- The gasses from the gunpowder being encased send the projectile (bullet) out towards the easiest avenue of escape (the barrel).
- here a pic if it was confusing HERE
It was the immediate difference in chamber pressure, and time of firing, that caused the malfunction... hilarity does ensue. I wish I still had the pics, they were on my old camera phone.

I was browsing through the forum (Battledome) when I came across a comment on the Punisher. Is it true that the Punisher in the War Journal comics has some kind of weapon called a Satan Claw? What is that? Also, Frank has got a swordgun? Please tell me that was a joke.

Not too sure about the Satan Claw, but I remember him having a sword (possibly the sword gun?) at one time.
After it got silly, I stopped reading PWJ after Civil War, it was just too... Childish, I guess is the word I'm looking for. So, I just skimmed through the issues and looked the artwork. When I decided to check it out again, they gave him a Venom symbiote suit. x 1000

Well, I just went back to the link. Apparently the Satan Claw is an experimental SHIELD weapon that grants the user superhuman strength and energy weapons. Punisher used it to beat up the Rhino. As for the sword gun...

I remember now, it's from the World War Hulk tie in...
This is why I said all non-MAX Punisher books fail hard.

I'm guessing Garth Ennis does not write the Punisher stories for Civil War and World War Hulk right?

Now I see what you mean when you said the non-MAX Punisher books fail. Christ Almighty, that was bad. I pray that Garth Ennis never gets tired of writing for Punisher. I mean come on, a sword-gun? What was the thinking process behind that?
"Hey guns are cool. But we need to make something even cooler."
"I like swords. Swords are cool."
"Hey I know! Lets add them together. That will be twice as cool!"
You would think that the writers were all ten year olds or something.

Told ya
Yeah, we can only hope that Ennis stays interested and in good health. Also, have you heard of The Foolkiller? Since you like The Punisher, you might like this one as well. There's only one issue out right now, but it was pretty good. It's under Marvel's MAX imprint.

Los Angeles Times best-selling author Gregg Hurwitz (The Crime Writer) and Lan Medina (Punisher) bring you a gritty, no-holds barred crime thriller! Move over Frank Castle, there’s a new vigilante in town. When the Foolkiller strikes, the punishment fits the crime. It’s a grand display for all to see, the truth in all its brutal glory, our hidden secrets gutted and turned inside out for the front pages. A vigilante artist, a madman performer, the Foolkiller has been brutally introduced to the human joke, and he wants to make sure fools everywhere take note. What he reveals may not be what you want to see. Or what you want to admit. But he makes one thing certain: If you’re a fool, you cannot hide.

Yeah, he's pretty bad-ass. I especially like what he did to the politician.

I've read all but "The Cell". I don't know why, but every time I try to read it, I always have something else to do.

Yeah, I think I'll try to read it tomorrow morning.
I don't know, it's between The Hunted (Annual) or The Tyger. I can't decide.

"Whats' his name", the actor that played Frank in the most recent movie, said that he's not doing Punisher 2.
