RahXephon. It's like Evangelion but more coherent, lacks the pretentious bullshit I'm sure you dislike, and has a conclusive ending. Also, characters are bound to not piss you off. I remember you saying you aren't too hot about mechs and I'm personally not either unless its either this or Goddanar (its goofy).
