I think that is because Dragonball was just far more primitive compared to Naruto.
Naruto is just so evolved, diverse and elevated in terms of Manga plot sophistication.

I love it as well, and what gets me personally the most is the music.
Nothing ever had such perfect music in an Anime.

At first I absolutely considered Tobito true as well.

Kishi has just thrown in so many suggestions:

1.)TOBI =OBIT / OBITO = TOBIO => take the O from TOBIO and it results in TOBI and OBITO......also the thing of saying Obito really fast over and again

2.)Only the right Sharingan eye

The only problem I currently have with the Tobito theory is the fact that Obito was still a child when he died, meaning that his body was of a child as well.
Also half of Obito´s body was crushed by that rock, including his face, and if he was reconstructed with Zetsu parts not only should Tobi then be much smaller but he should also have a partial Zetsu face, but we saw his lower face line when he removed his mask.

One thing that gets me thinking about this is the fact that Kakashi´s (Obito´s) Kamui and Tobi´s S/T look very much alike, I think Tobi is just using a further enhanced Kamui.

Basically, I believe that Tobi has something to do with Obito´s "supposedly crushed" eye, but I do not think that he is indeed Obito.
Because Obito died as a child, shows a grown up voice, fully adult human face, and is also fully grown, and even with Zetsu parts transplanted some parts of his body should then still be the ones of a child.

Just my own theory though, Tobi is just the hardest thing to crack, but there has to be a reason why Kishi has made all this Obito Tobi hints.

Tobi is one of the key elements for me personally in this story.
He is not just your everyday story villain, what I love about him is that he can have so many diverse agenda and persona.

Who do you think Tobi is?

I personally think he is a descendant of Madara.
Not necessarily his son but certainly a genetic descendant.

It would explain why they know each other intimately, it would also explain why Kyuubi was referring to Tobi´s Sharingan as Uchiha Madara´s when he was talking to Sasuke.
And it would explain why Tobi knew so much about Madara´s backstory in order to imposit him so effectively.

Obviously only a few had so much knowledge about the Uchiha.

I personally think Tobi is Madara´s descendant.

Naruto is related to RS

Due to the Uzumaki being related to the Senju and the Senju being descendants of RS, Naruto technically partially carries a highly dilluted and far fetched form of RS DNA.

Actually now that I really gave it some thought, due to Naruto being the main protagonist and being resembled and reflected towards RS more and more, I am tending to him having to have a closer relation to RS "than this distant relation to the Senju".

It might actually be true that the Uzumaki have a far closer bond to RS than this distant relationship to the Senju.
RS needed a seal for Juubi, even though we don´t know if he used one it is probable.

Maybe you are right.

SageMode does seem like just a timelimited form of the Senju´s physical inheritnance of RS´ power?

I strongly believe that the Elder Toad was RS´summon and that he learned it from him.

Tobi is still a mystery, but from the fact that he personally knew Madara, Itachi and Danzo from way back, and him having a Sharingan from the start, we can conclude that he definitely has some Uchiha relations.

I have experienced that happening to me as well when I had theories and I tried not to do that because I know how it sucks.
