Read your Juubingan theory. We don't know what the Juubi's eye powers so I wouldn't be so bold as to claim it could do this or that. For what Rikudou Sennin could do once he got his hands on the Juubi, however, all bets are off.

As for why Madara would refer to this doujutsu as Sharingan instead of Rinnegan: he's a proud Uchiha. The original Uchiha would probably refer to their doujutsu as Rinnegan, but as it mutated into its current form they'd make up a new name for it and proceed to use that instead.

Upon discovering the tablet, Madara would probably refer to base Rinnegan as Rinnegan, and its bijuu-altered form he'd call Sharingan, since that's clearly what it resembles the most.
