The first three books are the worst but hopefully the main character will grab your interest enough for you to read the others.

Hmm, I can definitely understand your problems with fantasy especially when it came to the Wheel of Time. I gave up on the series halfway through the first book. I can see parts of pretentiousness in A Song of Ice and Fire though that doesn't bother me so much since I skim most of the chapters not involving my favorite characters. The Way of Kings is different, I have absolutely no problem with the writing...that or the wonderful world has blinded my eyes. It's rare that I come to care about characters but the main character has certainly made me care, give the book a read. At the very least it'll help you with your own book at lest when it comes to developing the world.

I highly recommend The Dresden Files and Codex Alera. Both series start off slow but eventually they become amazing.

-The Way of Kings, which I'm currently reading, is one of the best fantasy books I've ever read.
    -Elantris
-Wizard of Earthsea and its sequels should be a must-read book series.

Oh god, it's easy to determine whether the book is worth reading or not once the readers start. I always think that the first paragraph should be eclectic, to the point that your reaction contradicts your first thoughts when you read the first sentence.

Like, instead of a Victorian era setting, the stories should revolve around modern urban life. Existential issues should be an important topic of a story.

Man, I barely have time to read too, but somehow I'm able to keep that beloved hobby. Probably because I work at a local Barnes and Noble. Anyway, you said something about Sci fi and Fantasy, I recommend Nathan Long's works, check out his new one called Jane Carver of Waar.

I'm going to bed, I have to be at work early tomorrow. But we'll continue talking though, I enjoy our conversation.

    Goodnight and goodmorning.

Man, I wish I had someone to collaborate with. Whenever I try to work on a major project, I'll always do good in the beginning and lose my momentum after a couple of chapters or so. That's why all I can come up with is a collection of short stories. Edgar Allan Poe is my main influence, I especially love the Tell Tale Heart. I like its depiction of madness and its incalculable consequences.
I guess if I were to become an author, i'd start a trend of Neo-Gothic.
Hey do you like John Connolly's works? He's the only person that can efficiently combine Detective, Horror and Supernatural fiction.

Dude same here, I disregard the limit rules cause I get so carried away.

I see. You know I have a penchant for writing too, especially poetry. When I was still in high school, I wrote a lot of short stories for fun. I sent some of my works to the school and local newspaper. The school newspaper, [i]Expressions[i], published a couple of them. After I graduated I stopped writing short fiction. What do you usually write about?

I once sailed for a king. I obeyed men of privilege and wealth.
Now, I bend my knee to no man. My only oath is to my crew,
and together we will take back what is rightfully ours.
With blood and steel we shall stand up to the powerful.
Captains will curse our flag and kings will fear it.
As long as empires generate wealth and riches...
...we will be there to bleed them dry.

I have come to a startling conclusion that, I believe, is more than just mere coincidence... now, bear with me here... but I truly believe that Kishimoto is trying to TAINT us (so guard your taints wisely) by using subliminal messages in his characters linking to psychopaths and serial killers... I present to you...

But after spending an entire night dedicated to watching old 80's music videos on YouTube with bjorkubus, I will forever remember Hugh Laurie as not only that, but also the God damn sexiest man alive that has ever graced his visage with a powdered wig, make-up, and a fake mole - featured
