Why do some people look for sympathy/act really sad?

Praecipula

No. I don't hate it but I'm kind of wary about it. I mean, they act like they really need comfort very badly and there you are..because you think they are telling the truth, give them the attention and affection they want. Then you'll learn they just lied after you..:geg

Well i've seen some people act really sad sometimes and its not cause they're actually sad, but they want people to see them as being sad and so they would care for them. Some people act like they have it really bad so they can get sympathy from people.

Me personally i don't think its that bad depends on why they do it. Like if they do it for the sake of it then yeah but if the person wants some love or some attention then i don't think its a bad thing.

But why do pplz do it?
Do you hate it?
Either pussys or suckers for pity. Both are lame as hell.

They do it cause their persona simply sucks and they need to do it.

Also some kind of attentionwhoring.

Listen up fellas, Sympathy one receives for nothing, envy must be earned.

I don't hate that attitude, I just pity those fools. Since pity is all they want. I do hate pity to the max though. Giving and recieving it.

No I don't find it annoying. Only if the person fakes it is it annoying. If they're really upset they probably aren't even doing it for sympathy. They just are upset. Most people don't even want anyone feeling sorry for them.

SageMaster

I'm not saying they shouldn't try getting some help if they're feeling bad, but they should do it while trying to get better instead of just saying all the time how sad they are.

Perhaps they wish to see who has a inner consciousness inside them, to see who can show a understand of love, and what it could be. Do I hate it? Yes I do. Because I've realised when these guys come out of their tiny shell of sadness, they really wasn't much of a friend and will change targets, but the ones that are real to you, even after they changed, that's a friend for life. I've been through that too and I found some good people in return, I do hate it though because even I turn my neck to some people, I was young but they were foolish so in the end I made the right choice. But I hated it, since it wasn't a positive feeling.

I noticed you're a fan of The Wire, that's a deep show man. Saw it recently, epic and real, best show I've seen in a long time.

Yakushi Kabuto
10-20-2010, 07:35 PM
I use to do that, for me it was that I didn't think there was much of anything worth thinking about that was positive. I felt like people would only look my way when I was displeased. And in a way it made me feel justified in my discontentment.

I look back on myself and I just kind of want to bonk myself on the head. All those years focusing on the negative things. Running my mind over and over them again even when whatever was bad was no longer happening. I could have tried more to find the things I enjoyed. I have found that since I dropped that line of thought and have new things to fill my life things are sunnier. I still have my insecuries and paranoia of many things. But they seem so insignificant compared to the good that can happen.

Everyone seeks validation of their importance one way or another. Some go about it really pathetically by acting like they don't matter or something so that they can get the sympathy "Aww noes you are soo important to meee!" some people are sissy and act like they are constantly ailing one way or another so that they get the care from people which makes them feel important, etc.

Then there's the good ways of seeking validation like competition/innovation and working hard to accomplish something that is praiseworthy.

I hate the fact that people act sad for attention, yes.
But some could being acting that way because thats just the way their mood is. We all have some of those days. Sometimes one person can have it more than another. Depression plays a big role to this too.

I've been one of those people who wanted sympathy but that's because I never really got it at home, it's like who cares we have our own problems family. So I became depressed and seeked some sort of approval and kindness from somebody. Nowadays I've realized no one cares whether your sad or happy because they have their own lives to live and so you have to put how you feel on the inside and swallow whatever sad feelings your going through and fight through life. Pity is a terrible thing to get but it kinda helps when you really are going through rough patch in your life, trust me. I realize now I'm on my own so I've decided to stop wanting a pity party and now I feel like I'm kickass no matter who tells me otherwise
